With the Aim of Advancing Latino Higher Education, Fifteen Colleges and Universities earn Excelencia Seal

Six colleges and universities have been recognized for the first time for their efforts and focus on boosting Latino college completion.

In 2019, the Excelencia in Education was introduced to one of the country’s leading education think tanks that are focused on Latino college completion and offered them the Seal of Excelencia.

It is a certification for colleges that serves Latino students based on demonstrated data, evidence-based leadership and practices and is valid for three years.

In the lane of earning the Seal of Excelencia, six new institutions earned the certification for the first time in the following year. The institutions are Mercy College in New York City, San Antonio College in Texas, the University of California, Santa Cruz, Texas State University in San Marcos, the University of New York, the University at the Albany-State, and the University of Texas at Arlington.
