During a competition in Portugal this month, a group of Edinburgh students captured a successful and ground-breaking rocket launch.
The University of Edinburgh team Endeavour traveled to Ponte de Sor to compete in the European Rocketry Challenge, launching their Darwin III rocket to a height of 7000 meters.
The impressive rocket was also moving at 1.7 times the speed of sound and carrying a complete set of PCBs for data acquisition, telemetry, power distribution, and GPS tracking that was designed and coded by students.
In addition, the vehicle flew higher and faster than any Scottish team-designed rocket in history, as they shared breathtaking images of the launch and the events leading up to the momentous occasion.
As they prepare for the first Scottish launch in 2023, the team collaborates closely with businesses like Skyrora, which recently shared information about their fire engine test.
