UAE universities increase in international academic standings

The UAE’s universities have shown remarkable progress in the global education rankings. Khalifa University, along with United Arab Emirates University and the University of Sharjah, have made significant advancements in the 2023 edition of the Global 2000 list by the Center for World University Rankings. Khalifa University notably rose 23 spots to 892nd place, attributed to its improved research performance. United Arab Emirates University climbed five places to 1178th, while the University of Sharjah improved by an impressive 121 spots to 1399th.

The rankings take into account various criteria such as the quality of education, employability, faculty quality, and research performance. The universities’ rising positions in the rankings indicate their strengthening research capabilities and overall academic excellence. The UAE’s universities have demonstrated their commitment to providing high-quality education and producing successful graduates who are sought after by employers.

The methodology used by the Center for World University Rankings analyzes millions of outcome-based data points, offering a comprehensive evaluation of universities worldwide. This year, 20,531 universities were assessed, representing institutions from 95 countries. The top-ranked universities, including those in the UAE, made it to the prestigious Global 2000 list, which serves as a testament to their academic prowess on an international scale.

While the United States continues to dominate the rankings, the UAE’s universities have emerged as formidable contenders, with their improved standings reflecting their dedication to research and education. This recognition not only enhances the reputation of these universities but also reinforces the UAE’s position as a rising hub for higher education and academic excellence.
