How has the history of human life transformed radically?

In the past, people were living an indigent and shabby lifestyle. However, education aids individuals in learning new things and enhancing their lifestyles.

Humans are becoming more advanced and highly qualified due to constant advancements in the educational system, which aids in enhancing their quality of life. Students are now receiving high-quality education through educational institutions.

The Journey of the University

In 2015, the Madhya Pradesh Niji Vishwavidyalaya (Sthapana Avam Sanchalan) Adhiniyam established the State Private University known as Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya in Indore. The university was founded to become a pioneer in creating a brighter future for humanity through qualitatively superior instructors, training, and research. Its goal is to create socially conscious people who will contribute to sustaining the development of global societies.

The university intends to provide students with a world-class educational experience and promote their holistic development. Conversely, look into possibilities to collaborate and create synergies with the top universities throughout the globe to create a world-class institution.

Additionally, the institution develops programs that support the country’s economic growth. It forges long-term partnerships with businesses to find win-win solutions and learn from the best practices of other top universities throughout the globe.

A Visionary Statement

When asked about the vision of the university, Dr Dhar asserted, “To create an educational environment that engages deep intellectual, moral and spiritual stimulation, thereby nurturing leadership.”

Further stating its mission, Dr Dhar says, “To pioneer a ‘mentoring’ based education system with a culture of its own rolled in Indian ethos and in tune with contemporary times. To impart learning through understanding – knowledge enrichment, skill development, and positive attitude formation. To encourage innovative thinking with self-discipline and social responsibility.”

After stating the vision and mission, Dr Dhar highlights the university’s core values and notes, “Endurance, Excellence, Fairness, Honesty, and Transparency.”

Torchbearer of the Institute

Dr Upinder Dhar is the First Vice Chancellor of Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya (Indore). Earlier, he was Group Additional Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academics) of Amity University (Noida); First Vice Chancellor of JK Lakshmipat University (Jaipur); Director- Institute of Management, DeanFaculty of Management, and Dean- Faculty of Doctoral Studies and Research, Nirma University (Ahmedabad); Director – Prestige Institute of Management and Research (Indore).

He has conducted 725 management and faculty development programs for the executives of major business houses and faculty members of academic institutions. He has also been Guest Faculty at IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Trichy, and IIT Roorkee. Besides undertaking consultancy assignments, he has authored/coauthored/edited 811 publications. Forty-one (41) scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degrees under his supervision by various universities.

A fellow of ISTD and a strong proponent of the Case Method, Dr Dhar was conferred Ravi J Matthai National Fellow Award by the Association of Indian Management Schools in 2018 and AIMA-Kewal Nohria Award for Academic Leadership in Management Education, 2022 by the All India Management Association in 2022.

Dr Dhar was awarded Commonwealth Fellowship twice to present his papers at the South Asian Management Forums held at the Royal Institute of Management, Bhutan, and Lahore University of Management Science, Lahore. He was invited by the American Society for Engineering Management as a resource person for Case Method during its annual International Conference held in Minnesota in 2013.

A Small or Big Contribution towards Education!

With the technical assistance of IBM, Red Hat, Apple, TCS, Impetus, Tata Power, and Infosys, SVVV offers several programs. The degrees are also offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels in rural management in collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education. The pupils’ response to these initiatives has been very positive. Even business houses have praised this initiative.

The university’s UG and PG students have the chance to strengthen their entrepreneurial and employability abilities because of an MoU that SVVV has signed with BOSCH India. In partnership with Mitsubishi Electric India, the institution has also developed a ‘Factory Automation Laboratory.’ In accordance with this MoU, the institution has received lab equipment worth Rs. 30,00,000 for the training of students.

Global Exposure for Pupils

The university has signed MoU with Hanyang University, South Korea, and St. Cloud State University, Minnesota, USA, for establishing alliances related to:

  • Exchange of faculty, students, and researchers.
  • Co-operation in such activities as joint research, lectures, symposia, and country visits for students.
  • Exchange of data, documentation, and research material in the fields of mutual interest.
  • Work towards cooperative educational programs for the future.
  • To evolve new programs with an integrated multidisciplinary approach offering considerable skills in engineering and technology, management, and other disciplines to follow.

Non-academic Activities

The students are encouraged to plan and organize various co-curricular activities independently with basic support from the university. Such an atmosphere inculcates in them the spirit of leadership and an understanding of several aspects of technology and management. They are undertaking such activities not merely for the learning value but also for the pleasure that comes with the experience of a well-done job.

The students recognize their talents and skills and are inspired to develop further. The students are also nominated to participate in other leading institutions’ co-curricular activities. The students organize various conferences, conclaves, workshops, guest lectures, study tours, and other such activities.

By involving them in such activities, they get exposed to the contemporary understanding of various concepts and develop their organizing skills.

The university offers a broad scope of extracurricular activities for the students, including various adventurous activities that make campus life vibrant and act as a window to reach out to students across the country.

While stating the achievements, awards, accolades, and accreditation, Dr Dhar highlights, “Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, has been recognized in the band ‘Promising Institutions’ under the category ‘University & Deemed to be University (Private/SelfFinanced) in Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) 2021, a flagship program of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The university has been ranked in the Top 50 State Private Universities in OutlookICARE Rankings 2022. Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya has been rated as ‘A+++’ at National Level in Business India – The Magazine of the Corporate World in 2022.”

Insights Holding the Future

While stating the future vision of the institute, Dr Dhar mentions, “The courses should be need-based and job-oriented so that the unemployment problem is minimized. Higher education should not promote unemployment; it should diminish it.”
