Pasco School District Launches Special Education Endorsement Teacher Residency Program

Pasco School

The Pasco School District (PSD) is embarking on an innovative partnership with the Washington Education Association (WEA) and the Pasco Association of Educators (PAE) to introduce the Teacher Residency Program, focused on acquiring a fully licensed special education teacher endorsement.

Open to individuals currently employed by PSD, community members, or those with a bachelor’s degree without a teaching certificate, the program is designed for aspiring Special Education Teachers. PSD is providing up to four paid residencies for candidates selected by WEA/PAE/PSD to participate in this year-long initiative.

PSD is organizing an information session at PAE on February 28. This event provides an opportunity to discover more about the program, its benefits, and the application process. Those interested are encouraged to attend or spread the word.

The event will be held on Wednesday, February 28, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the Pasco Association of Educators (PAE), situated at 500 N. 20th Ave., Pasco, WA 99301. Attendees can participate in small group information sessions at 4:30 pm, 5 pm, or 5:30 pm. Alternatively, they can drop by anytime between 4:30 – 6:30 pm with any questions they may have.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. The deadline for applications is April 12, 2024.

This initiative presents an exciting opportunity to make a difference in education and influence the lives of students. PSD looks forward to community engagement and urges individuals to embark on the path to becoming licensed Special Education Teachers.
