In India, South Point High School, Located in Kolkata, Receives its Own Satellite and Space Station

In eastern India, South Point High School has become the first educational institute, which is set to launch its nano-satellite and also set up a space laboratory on the campus, as it is part of the historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which has been signed on 2nd August among the Indian Technology Congress Association (ITCA) and the school.

The satellite has been named after the former trustee and president of South Point Education Society ‘PriyamvadaSat’. She also served as a chairman and the promoter of the MP Birla group.

Under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the 75-student satellite Mission 2022 has entered the school, and the Indian Space and Research Organization (ISRO) shall introduce 75 student satellites.

The South Point High School’s nano-satellite will be positioned in the lower earth orbit, and the established space laboratory on the campus will monitor and ensure sadequate data collection from the satellite.
