At the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for Frostburg State University’s new Education and Health Sciences Center on Saturday, state and local officials were joined by Maryland Governor Wes Moore.

“In this building lives opportunity,” Moore said during the dedication. “In this building there’s promise. In this building lives an understanding that if you can have a world class facility, you will create world class leaders who will change the world — people who every single day understand what it means to be Maryland tough and who understand that if we’re willing to invest in them now, the return on that larger investment that we’re going to have on our entire state is going to be profound.”

The College of teaching and Health & Natural Sciences, as well as the fields of kinesiology, teaching, nursing, and the health sciences, are housed in the $82 million facility, which opened its doors this past spring. The new building houses teaching labs for health sciences, nursing, science, math, and technology. It also has labs for nursing simulation. The Children’s Literature Center and the Student Health and Counseling Center, which offer FSU students cutting-edge medical care in a premier wellness facility, are both housed in the same building.
The COVID-19 pandemic-related supply chain problems caused a delay in the building’s opening.
