The Indian team wins three gold and two silver medals at the 15th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA). The competition was held in Kutaisi, Georgia, from August 14th to August 21st.
The total number of participants students in this year’s Olympiad were 209 from 37 main teams and 6 guest teams, along with it 24 students from 6 countries participated in the competition through online mode.
The Indian team was trained by the Astronomy Olympiad cell at Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education. The team was accompanied by two professors Prof. Sarita Vig and Prof. Ajit Mohan Shrivastava along with Dr. Shriharsh Tendulkar and Tejas Shah.
Raghav Goyal from the team won a special prize for the best solution to the most challenging theoretical question.
India was placed in the third position along with Singapore.
