Education teaches people to be better citizens, acquire a good paying job, and differentiate between good and bad. Education teaches us the value of hard effort while also assisting us in growing and developing.
Co-curricular activities enhance our learning by inspiring creative thought, strengthening our social and organizational skills, developing our interests and talents, and providing us with the opportunity to unwind and do something we like.
But in today’s time, the mixture of Education and Co-curricular activities plays a key role. With the same mission, Cairo American College (CAC) provides a blend of education and curricular activities to its students aiming for them to be prominent in the outer world.
Let’s learn more about CAC and its growth story in detail:
About the College
Cairo American College was founded in 1945 and is a PreK–12 international school accredited by the Middle States Association for Schools and Colleges, the International Baccalaureate, and the Council of International Schools (CIS) (MSA). This is the only school in Cairo which is supported by US State Department. With 50 American students enrolled in grades 1- 8, it was established in a three-story villa.
It wasn’t until 1970 that CAC relocated to its current site, which spans 11 acres and is located in Digla, Maadi, a residential neighborhood with lots of greenery. There are currently 80 classrooms, 14 science labs, a 520-seat state-of-the-art theatre, three outdoor fields, and more on the campus.
Expansion and Growth
More than 75 years after its founding, CAC has expanded significantly to include a culturally diverse student body that includes both local and international students, representing more than 50 different nationalities, 65 different multinational corporations, 10+ embassies, 25 different NGOs, and many of Egypt’s top businesses. More than 90 different nations are home to and employ CAC alumni.
CAC Mission
Cairo American College stands out among Egyptian universities because it offers the world’s best learning atmosphere that equips students for a prosperous future in the fast-changing world of today. As stated in the CAC Mission Statement, all students are encouraged to think of new possibilities to realize their goals.
The school runs under the tenet that student learning is the center of all school activity. The value that CAC focuses on parental involvement is another important component of its effective educational system. Parental involvement in their children’s daily activities is essential to a sound and well-rounded education, according to CAC.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
The CAC has provided the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme since 1993. Nearly 98 percent of CAC alumni start college within a year of graduation. To match students with some of the most selective and prominent colleges in the world, the counselors work closely with them to assess their academic potential as well as other qualities like leadership, participation in extracurricular activities, and service-learning ability.
Keys to Success
The ability to provide the appropriate blend of strong academics and interesting co-curricular activities that enhance the school’s primary academic endeavors is critical to CAC’s success in training students to become active global citizens.
CAC believes that the co-curricular activities programs are what distinguishes the school from other schools in Egypt. CAC, like the American education system, lays a major focus on a whole-child philosophy that values co-curricular activities as much as solid academics.
